So the International Training Education Program or "ITEP," as we like to call it, is a master's program for individuals interested in the field of International Education, which it really varies what that actually means. Some people that might be international exchange such as things like study abroad, those types of programs. Some people might go into internationalization and development. And then we also see some that work in our other pathway of training for change to really help enrich learning around the world, in regional, local, and international contexts.
All of our faculty have had experience working in multiple countries and working with partners that we bring into the work that we do.
Students come into the program with a multitude of experience, international experience in their home country, outside of their own home country. We have students from the range of more beginning level professionals all the way to more advanced professionals that really wanted to reflect on their skills.
As students have a chance in the program to learn some of the theory, some of the history behind comparative international education. They also really learn about applying these different things. They're doing it in-person as kind of co-learners, they're co-constructing the class by the end of it.
Students have the opportunity to explore individual research or question. So for example, we had a student that was looking at indigenous groups in her home city in China, and representation of language. Our alumni go to a really wide range of organizations, including higher education institutions. We have students that work for international governments as well as the US government. We also have students that go into nonprofit nongovernmental organizations.
We have a yearly gathering with our alumni where you can meet with alumni from around the world. You can really hear their different voices and experiences. When I leave, I'm really hoping to go into the world of training design development or non-formal education, and ITEP's helping me along the way. I feel like I've grown not just as a learner but as a person.
